# Modal x Pydantic London: dev tools for you and your agents

An evening of lightning talks in London with Modal: Samuel Colvin on building Logfire for people and agents, Elias Freider on the SDK behind Modal. Food and drinks after.

## About

Agents changed what developers need from their tools. Modal and Pydantic are both building for that shift: Modal on the AI cloud infrastructure, Pydantic on agent observability and evals. The teams behind both are coming to talk about what actually changes.

## The talks

**Samuel Colvin, founder at Pydantic**, on Pydantic Logfire, which wraps OpenTelemetry in a thin layer so instrumenting code takes little setup. Samuel digs into how the SDK was designed for both human and agent audiences, the choices that keep it lightweight, and how the same foundation scales from agent observability to application-wide monitoring.

**Elias Freider, founding engineer at Modal**, on how Modal builds a Python SDK that works for developers and agents, from deploying functions to spinning up sandboxes. Elias walks through the internals, the pitfalls the team hit along the way, and how they solved them.
